Destination: Grampians Peaks Trail, Victoria
Duration: 3 Days, 2 Nights
Disciplines: Hiking
Grade: Active
Gariwerd is one of Victoria's most popular hiking destinations. A new favourite is stage one of the revamped Grampians Peaks Trail. A rustic trail starting and ending in Halls Gap, this loop walk shows off the diversity of the Grampians National Park. Strolling through rocky gorges, passed cascading waterfalls and hiking up to stunning view points, it really does have it all. Each day is different, from the terrain to the view from our tents.
Together, with a maximum of 12 ladies, you will be hiking 10-14 kms per day carrying a light day pack. The trail traverses over undulating hills and sometimes over rocks. On the last day we set off onto Lake Bellfield in our canoes for a peaceful journey back into Halls Gap. We recommend this journey for active women, ideally but not necessarily, with some previous hiking experience.
What to Expect

Itinerary
Day ONE: Car pool to meeting point for a mid morning snack and briefing. Hike from Halls Gap through rocky gullies and vista filled ridge walking to get to our first nights camp at Stony Creek Campground.
Day TWO: Just under 14 kilometers of trail for us to enjoy today. Sandstone outcrops and spectacular 360 degree views from the summit of Mount Rosea. Winding our way back down to the forest floor to the Borough huts campground.
Day THREE: For our final fling, we'll take to canoes in the morning, giving our legs a well earned rest. After paddling across Lake Bellfield, it's back on foot for our final effort, completing the loop as we arrive triumphantly back in Halls Gap. We have lunch along the way and send you off in the afternoon with some healthy snacks for your journey home.

Fitness Level
Grade: Active
You will work for your supper but with minimal strain on your body - light packs and friendly hiking terrain. We leave plenty of time to reach camp, so distances are physically challenging but very obtainable.
We have had ladies in their early-30s upto their late-60s fall in love with this trip, so if you’re active and keen to gain some more hiking experience, this is the trip for you. Still unsure? Get in touch and we can talk it over.

Health & Wellbeing
The food is cooked fresh, plant-based and organic (where possible). Menu collaborated with our knowledge of what keeps well in the bush and nutritionist, Steph Wearne’s, expert advice.
In camp, you will have access to yoga mats, a foam roller and suggested sequences. Our days are active, canoeing or hiking. With small packs and plenty of rests, you will end the day feeling good.

Women of Wander acknowledges the Djab Wurrung and Jardwadjali people as the Traditional Owners of Gariwerd. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging. We recognise that Aboriginal people have cared for and protected this land we call home since the dreaming. Their connections to the land, animals, seas and waterways was and continues to be a part of their being and we thank them for their significant contributions to the landscape we will move through on this journey.
